Although we initially encountered an annoying echo with overseas connections, after contacting the company for help, the problem went away. Domestic calls were superb, soundwise.
WIRED: Most inexpensive plan. Tidy online account manager. No hold time for tech support. Optional mobile plan lets you save big bucks when making international calls on your cell phone. (First dial a designated number to connect with Lingo, then make your international call.)

Back in Feb. '05, my husband and I ditched our landline service and switched to Lingo. In, Sept. '05 Hurricane Rita hit us and we left everything behind expect for our lingo phone adapter and important documents.
For the next several days, cell phones and landline phones were still down. We stayed in Houston,TX for 2 weeks in a hotel and made phone calls to family and friends using our Lingo service. Everyone wanted to know how our phone was working and while theirs was not. My husband just smiled and said, 'Ever heard of Lingo, the internet phone service? Maybe you should switch to Lingo.' What a classic moment."

"I've had lingo since May 2005. We have never had a problem. I loved being able to call international when every I wanted during my husbands 2 deployments to Japan.
We recently relocated from Washington state to Florida. Once the broadband was hooked up we just plugged in our Lingo. We had to get a local service for a short time to get a local number as lingo didn't have a number in the calling area. (put in a transfer req to have Lingo take over service of the number) Other phone companies charges are so over priced now. Right now we have a phone number in Washington, Alabama and Florida."
